The Abundant Life

John 10:10b
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The beginning of this verse talks about the thief. We know the thief is our enemy the devil. The devil's purpose for mankind is to either steal, kill or destroy them. He hates us today as Christians. When we trusted Christ it gave him a black eye. His goal is to get us out of the will of God. The sad thing is today many saved people give into the devils plan without knowing it. Now we get this part of the verse. When God saved us he did not save us to live a mediocre life. He wants us to live with the fullness of his blessings. He wants us to live the abundant life. There are many in churches today that are not living this life. God saved us to enjoy life and to enjoy the blessings of life. We can not enjoy life if we are walking outside his will. I was thinking of some ways we can get this abundant life.

I. Abstain from Sin.
We can't live this abundant life if we wilfully sin everyday. God hates sin. We should get as far away from sin as possible. The sad thing is many Christians live on the edge of sin. They call grey area's. There is no grey area with God. His Word means what it says. If he says we can't do something then we can't do it. If he says Therefore to him that knoweth to good and doeth it not to him it is sin. That is what God means. We will never get to the point of perfection but it is my opinion in my life that I can sin less it is just a matter of me being obedient to God's Word.

II. Absolute Surrender.
The reason many Christians have not lived the abundant life is because they have not given God everything. We as Christians choose what parts of our life God can have. Remember if he don't have all then we are sinning against a Holy God. How guilty we are many times in our lives. We sometimes let circumstances dictate our surrender. We sometimes let are feelings dictate our surrender, but most of the time we let our fear dictate our surrender. We are afraid of what God will do with us, but most of all what God may do to us. Before we ever live the abundant Christian life we must surrender all to the Lord.

III. Ask for the Filling of the Spirit.
When we get saved we get indwelled by the Holy Spirit. We get all the spirit we our ever going to get. The filling of the Holy Ghost is the Spirit getting more of us. Now please don't take this critically but we will never reach the abundant Christian life until we get filled with the Holy Ghost. This is how I know that in my own life I continue to strive for this abundant life because I am not a spirit filled believer. When I preach or teach God touches me, but I am talking about a everyday experience. How many times have we got to busy to spend quality time with the Lord. I know I am guilty.

In closing so much more we could talk about but lets realize this there is a more abudant life we can live. If we want it God will give it to us. May the Lord help us to prayerfully consider these things in our life. God bless you till next time.

Coming before throne

Heb 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

A friend of mine was talking about this verse yesterday and the more you meditate on this verse the more real it becomes to you. I thank God that we don't have to have a priest go to the throne for us. I thank the Lord that when we got saved we had access to the throne of grace. Lets take a look at this verse this morning. The first thing that we see is come boldly. This means to come confidently. When we come to the throne of grace we can come knowing that God will meet us there. We as children of God are given the right not proudly but humbly to go before the throne of grace. The next thing we see is the words obtain mercy. This means to recieve mercy. When we have messed up and failed the Lord we can obtain his mercy at the throne of Grace. How many times as Christians have we been fearful to go to the throne because of sin in our life. The last words I want to look at is find grace. The word is translated discover. WHen we go before his throne we discover grace. We need grace for salvation, but we need grace through every situation in our life. If as Christians we really understood all that grace entails I believe we would live more successful Christian lives. When we go before the throne are part in to be right with him. After we get to throne we should praise God for a little while because is worthy of it. THen we should just bring our petitions to the Lord for others, and ourselves. May the Lord bless you till next time.

Someone Cares!

I Peter 5:7 Casting all you care upon him; for he careth for you.

Have you ever felt like no one cares about you? Have you ever felt like you could do nothing right in peoples eyes? Have you ever felt like you were all alone? I would have to say I have had to say yes to all these questions at one time or another in my Christian life. I believe sometimes as Christians we should be ashamed to think this way then I think of the times that God did not even seem near to me. You ever been there. As I sit here this morning I wonder how many saved people think no one cares about them. I have learned something in my Christian life. Sometimes family lets you down and you don't think they care about you. Sometimes friends let you down and you don't think they care about you, but thank God He never lets us down. When we can't find him it is because we have moved in our own lives. There are a couple of area's that I thank God that he cares about for each person that is a Christian.

I. He Cared about Our Soul.
He loved us so much that he sent his son to die on the cross for my sins. He cared so much that he allowed the Holy Ghost to come and convict me of my sins. He care so much that he gave me the faith to believe on his name to be saved. He cared so much that he is willing that none should perish but all should come to repentance.

II. He Cares about Our Situtation.
He says cast all our care upon him. We sometimes forget that God wants us to cast everything that is bothering us on him. He wants us to leave all our burdens at the cross. He is our help in time of need. He is our strong tower when we are in danger. He knows everything we are going through mentally, phsyically, spiritually, and emotionally. He wants us to be at peace in our hearts and our minds. The only way we can be at peace is when we give all to him and let him do what he wants to in our situation. He owns everything. He can give us the peace we need, or the power we need, or the provision we need if we just leave it in his hands.

In conclusion the next time we feel like someone don't care we just need to get on our knees , or in our prayer closet or in the Word of God and realize God cares for us and wants to take care of us. We are the problem. Lets give all over to him and see what he can do. We have tried to many times to fix our problems, lets give God a chance to fix them. Till next time God bless.

What Will People Say When We Die

Mark 15:39 ANd when the centurion which stood over against himsaw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said Truly this man was the Son of God.

This is after Jesus died on the cross. I was thinking first I am not trying to be warped in my thinking but none of us know when we will leave this earth. It could be tomorrow or it could years from now. Everyday good people, bad people, old people, young people, famous people, poor people, rich people die. Death is no respect of persons. We all will die one day as a result of sin in this earth. However I was wondering when we lay in the casket before a church or at a funeral home I wonder what people will say. I wonder what kind of impact we have had on this earth. There our three groups or people I want to talk about.

I. What will Family Say?
I wonder what our parents would say about us if we were to leave this earth. Would they be able to say they were a blessing while they were on this earth, or would they have in the back of their mind they were such a problem. I wonder our spouse would say. Would they say they walked with God and try to live right or would they wonder if we were even saved. What would children say. Would they say momma or daddy live right or would they say I hope momma or daddy made it to heaven. I would hope that all that read this would have their family say great things about them.
II. What would Friends say?
Our Church friends.
Would they say Bro or Sis live for God. Would they have fond memories of you helping them in their life. Would they remember the times you talked about the Lord. Would they remember if you taught or preached to them that you showed love to them, or would they have to question whether you even made to heaven. Before I go to the last one tonight I hope you realize we infleunce people everyday. What kind of influence we have depends on us. I pray we would all be an good influence on people in our lives it really should make us think about what would be truly say if I left this earth tomorrow.
III. Christ
I wonder what Christ will say once we are dead. I know what he will say to me enter into my kingdom and I believe most that read this know that also, however I wonder if he will say well done thou good and faithful servant. That should be the pray of our hearts. But what about the one that dies without Christ the words from the Lord's mouth will be depart from me I never knew you. Those are the saddest words that anyone will ever hear.
In closing Death is a sobering thought but even more sobering is what kind of influence would I leave behind if I went to heaven today. I hope you ponder on this thought. May the Lord bless till next time.

This is the Day the Lord has made

Hello anyone out there? Wondering if anyone is still reading posts. I hope i haven't got to mean. LOL I thank the Lord that I have been able to put 80 posts up and I hope something he has given me has been a blessing to someone.

Anyways I was just thinking God has given us another day to live. We were able to get up this morning in good health, and with all our body parts able to work. God is so good to us. I wonder today and I am guilty of not doing this like I should but how many of us gave God thanks for another day I know in my own life I take it for granted many times. I take God's blessing for granted so many times in my life and I wonder if he took all those blessings ways how would I react. There is so much we can rejoice over this morning we are not going to Hell. THe Holy Spirit lives inside us today and he will never leave us nor forsake us. I have health to work today. I have food in my home. I have a car to get me back on forth. God has been so good to us. Another thing to think about is today could be the day that the Lord could be back. Then what day this day would be it would all be over. We will be able to think right, act right, speak right and live right. We will live with the Lord forever. Just a little thought this morning to give us a hop in our step to just thank God for all he has done. Till next time God bless.

I wonder who looks up to us.

This will not be a very long post. I was just looking at Kimberly's website and saw role models part1. The Lord just tug my heart so I figure i would put something up. I thank God that I am saved by the grace of God and I hope that my life shines like the Bible says. Let your light shine before men. Someone is always watching us. It could be are family watching us seeing what kind an example we are to them. It could be people we work with that are watching us. ( That is why we have to be careful we don't lose at work), and it could be people at church that are watching us. I know we are all human and we all make mistakes but we do not know what kind of influence we have on people. The world looks up to worldly people. THey look up to actors, actresses, athletes and I am sure there are many more. I wonder how many people look at us as a role model. I wonder if we have that godly testimony we are suppose to have in every situation. One of the greatest but humblest things is knowing that someone looks at your life as a role model. We must always remember that are life is to make a difference in other people's lives. I know there are several that have look at me in the past as someone they could look up to. THe worse thing we can do is let that person down. I hope that these few thoughts will help us realize someone is always watching. Till next time God bless.
